JOLIET – Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet was included in U.S. News & World Report’s list of “Best Hospitals in Illinois.”

U.S. News & World ranked Presence Saint Joseph 13th in the state and 12th in the Chicago metropolitan area.

“We are proud to be recognized by U.S. News & World Report for our dedication to compassionate patient care,” Robert J. Erickson, president of Presence Saint Joseph, said in a news release. “This is just the beginning, as we are on a journey of continual improvement to meet the needs of the communities we serve.”

The hospital was ranked high-performing in the specialties of nephrology and urology.

In a ranking of procedures, Presence Saint Joseph was ranked high-performing in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, colon cancer surgery, heart failure, hip replacement and knee replacement.

Thirty of the more than 200 hospitals in Illinois were ranked by U.S. News & World.

Presence Saint Joseph was one of three hospitals listed as 13th in the rankings.

Other area hospitals that were ranked include Edward Hospital in Naperville, also ranked 13th, and Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, ranked 16th.
